We were 2 persons & used the same massage therapist & facial person.
Massage - We booked for 1 Elemental Nature massage & 1 Chakra massage (without knowing what Chakra was). After talking to us, the massage therapist suggested that we should both do the Elemental Nature massage. The massage therapist was excellent, well-worth the money, & somebody we would definitely use again. The only fly in the ointment is that the owner would not refund the difference between the 2 types of massage ($10). Since we read review that the owner could be argumentative, so we decided not to pursue it & spoiled our day.
Facial - The facial was fine. It's always nice to have our face pampered, but there is nothing spectacular to write. Compared to the massage, the facial was not as good-valued.
Facilities - clean & spacious enough for the number of people. The shower was nice.

I got the Aveda Elemental ature Massage that I bought as a Wahanda MobDeal and have to say that my second experience at Reve was just as impressive as the first! I got a facial a few months ago at this new spa, which was probably the best facial ever. And now I can say that this massage ranks up there among the best, and I've had quite a few.
I basically had everything to do with my massage therapist Rie, who was incredibly attentive and skilled as a masseuse. Though this was a full body massage, she did focus more time on my back, shoulders and neck, where I hold a lot of tension, which I appreciated. You can also tell that Rie has been well trained for her massage techniques felt different and more effective than those used by most massueses. It really felt like she was getting into the stubborn knots and releasing a lot of the tension. I also liked how at the end she stretched my legs out a bit, which reminded me of a Thai Massage and was great.
Fabulous massage and Reve is my new to-go massage place on the Peninsula!

Wow! Reve in San Mateo was awesome! Right when I walked in the door, I was whisked away into a happy and peaceful place. From the outside, Reve seems like your typical health and beauty supply store, but upon entering the store-front, I was greeted with the kind of smiles and scents that a person may experience in a tropical paradise. I don't know why it stands out in my mind so much, but it really smelt great (insert deeeeeep breath)! It was a perfect first impression to prep me for pure relaxation.
The waiting area is small and simple, and that's fine. The staff is very attentive to your needs by offering you water, tea, etc. And for me, along with the smell of any spa, the music is a major element to achieve an ideal spa experience, and the music was pure bliss. I just closed my eyes and drifted off to the sweet sounds of nature before my massage...Aaaahhhh...
Now for the massage treatment itself...Again, the music got me into my "happy and peaceful place". Once the therapist and I talked about my problem areas, she went to work, and focused her time on my problem areas. She adjusted accordingly based on all the knots in my back, and that was terrific. Usually a therapist would continue with her "routine" treatment, but not her. She put her focus where the focus was needed, and kindly asked me if it was OK to apply more pressure to release the tension. OH YEAH!! With pain comes pleasure! That's for darn sure! The deep tissue pressure was much needed, and I can't thank her enough for customizing her technique to my problem areas, and releasing so much tension and stress...I was so relaxed for my fantastic lunch with my wife afterwards at one of the many great restaurants within walking distance. I highly recommened making a fun afternoon or evening out of it. Thanks baby for this amazing treat! What a great break from the daily grind! :)
The only negative thing was that they ran out of toilet paper in the men's bathroom. I hope they put a new roll in before my next visit, because YES, I will be back! ;)

I have been really sore from working out and I needed a massage. I saw this great massage deal on Wahanda and decided to check out this new spa in San Mateo that I had not heard of before. When I walked in I was impressed with how clean it looked and how good it smelled. The staff was very attentive and offered me something to drink. My masseuse was great, his hands seemed to know how to release all my tension. Can't wait to try out some of the spa's other services!
